Aldi’s grand opening set for Aug. 10

Aldi, a German-based grocery chain, announced that it will open its Gloucester store next Thursday, Aug. 10.

The store, located off Route 17 just south of Fox Mill Centre, will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony and official grand opening at 7:50 a.m., spokesperson Kristin Fields said, after a dignitary preview at 7:30.

Following the ceremony, each of the first 100 customers will receive a golden ticket containing an Aldi gift card in varying amounts. Customers can also tour the store, sample Aldi exclusive brand products, and enter an on-site sweepstakes for a chance to win a year’s supply of Aldi’s produce.

Information furnished to Gloucester County indicates the store has approximately 18,850 square feet, with more than 75 parking spaces.

Evergreen Development, which owns Fox Mill Centre, sold the 1.8-acre site to Aldi for approximately $1.9 million. Bob Kubicki, formerly of Gloucester and now living in Illinois, is principal owner of Evergreen.
