Air Force Heritage of America band to present free show on July 1 in Irvington

The U.S. Air Force Heritage of America Concert Band will perform a free concert of rousing marches, patriotic favorites, Broadway hits, film scores, swinging jazz and orchestral classics at 7 p.m. on Saturday, July 1, on the Irvington Commons, 98 King Carter Drive, Irvington.

Concertgoers are encouraged to bring chairs and picnics to the performance, which is presented by the Irvington Village Improvement Association. Concert sponsor Chesapeake Bank will offer free hot dogs, chips and desserts from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m.

The upcoming performance will be the 30th time the Heritage of America Concert Band has played in Irvington. “We are honored to welcome back this great group of talented musicians,” said Jill Worth of the Village Improvement Association.

The band of more than 40 musicians, stationed at Joint Base Langley-Eustis in Hampton, entertains more than 1.5 million people each year at some 300 events for the public and in support of Air Force morale and protocol events.
