Gloucester, Mathews and Middlesex county farmers, it’s that time of year again. The signup period for the Virginia Agricultural Cost-Share Program begins July 21 and runs through Aug. 25, according to the Tidewater Soil and Water Conservation District.
The goal of the VACS program is to improve water quality in Virginia’s streams, rivers, and the Chesapeake Bay to meet Virginia’s non-point source pollution reduction objectives. Tidewater SWCD can help fund conservation practices like nutrient management plans and applications, cover crop planting, erosion stabilization, exclusion fencing, watering systems, forestry practices, and much more.
Appointments are required to sign-up, no walk-ins accepted. For more information or to schedule your appointment, call 804-699-3482 or stop by the Gloucester office, located in the USDA Service Center.
