AGNES LEWIS WILLIAMS

Agnes “Aggie” Lewis Williams of Gloucester Point, died peacefully on Nov. 9, 2016, after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease.

A lifelong resident of Gloucester County, Aggie was a graduate of Achilles High School and a longtime member of Bethany United Methodist Church. She completed nursing school at Mary Immaculate Hospital School for Nursing and went on to work at Eastern State Hospital where she solidified her role as a dedicated nurse, eventually retiring after a fulfilling 38-year career. In retirement Aggie became the adopted grandmother to all the neighborhood children, cared for her cat, Marlowe, and tended to her flowers. She was committed to her daughters and to her career working with the mentally ill. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, James “Jimmy” Robert Williams, and her parents, William Irving and Evelyn Lewis.

She is survived by daughters, Andrea W. Reed (John) and Alicia L. Williams (Elmer), and a host of cousins and other loved ones. 

The family received friends at Bethany United Methodist Church, Gloucester Point, on Sunday, Nov. 13, 2016, from 2-3 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 3 o’clock conducted by the Rev. Deborah T. Marion. Interment followed in Gloucester Point Cemetery.
