Agnes Gray Lamberth Hogge was born on December 16, 1929 at “The Glebe” in Gloucester County. She went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 28, 2026. She passed at her home with her children by her side. She was 96. She graduated from Botetourt High School in June 1946 and attended Madison College and Pan-American Business School in Richmond, Virginia. Agnes built a diverse career centered on finance and business management. Upon completing her education, she began her career at S.C. Lamberth & Bros. Building Materials as Bookkeeper and Secretary. During this time, she met the love of her life, Milton. She then began a banking career as the secretary to the president and loan officer at the Bank of Gloucester. She and Milton married and moved to West Point, where she continued her career, closer to home at Citizens and Farmers. Eventually, her love for the family business and the desire to work alongside her beloved husband led her back to S.C. Lamberth & Bros. Building Materials of Gloucester, where she became a part-owner. She continued until her retirement in 2002. Agnes was dearly loved by her family and friends. She was a member of Salem United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School, served on the Administrative Board, and served as treasurer of the Memorial Association for 25 years. She also volunteered in the gift shop at Riverside Walter Reed Hospital. Agnes was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Milton L. Hogge; parents, George E. and Rettie Watson Lamberth, and siblings, Margaret E. Lamberth, Virginia L. Williams-Edwards, and Mildred L. Chamberlain. She is survived by her son, Edwin L. Hogge (Teresa); daughter, Debbie Hogge Williams (Cliff); grandchildren, Chad Williams (Shannon), Alison Foster (Chuckie), Leslie Blanks, Ryan Hogge (Allison), Jeannie Burton (Rodney); great-grandchildren, Tyler Foster (Jessie), Autumn Williams, Blake Williams, Ann-Marlowe and Taylor Gray Blanks, Chase Burton (Maria) and Casie Hinton; great-great-grandchildren, Emma, Mason, Elijah, and Maddie Foster, and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at Hogg Funeral Home from 6-7:30 p.m. The funeral service, conducted by Pastor Scott Pollard, will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at Salem Community Church, 11408 Salem Church Road, Gloucester, Va. 23061, followed by interment in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Salem Church Cemetery, c/o Stephanie Hunt, P.O. Box 42, Saluda, Va. 23149.
