After-the-fact permit to be considered at joint meeting

The Mathews County Board of Supervisors and Planning Commission will hold a joint public hearing on a request for a conditional use permit at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the historic courthouse.

Larry Wilson of Cardinal, has requested the after-the-fact permit to allow him to continue living in a travel-trailer on his property on a temporary basis while rebuilding a home destroyed by Hurricane Isabel. Such a use is permitted with county board approval. Planners are expected to discuss the request after the hearing and then make a recommendation to supervisors.

The commission will also consider a resolution honoring the service of previous member Michael Lowe, will hear a report by the nominating committee, and will discuss recurrent flooding. ...
