Little Lily Nunez of Fort Eustis, in front in above photo, is entranced by the puppies at the Adopt Don’t Shop adoptable animal event held on Saturday at Zoll Vineyards in Dutton. Her mom, Ashley Nunez, said they would adopt a puppy “if we can convince my husband.” Angel Recoy, standing in photo below, is the owner of Critters 4 U, a cat and dog rescue at Dutton. She said the animals available at the event were all rescued animals that have been placed in foster homes with volunteers such as Esther Thomas of Newport News, seated, until they can be rehomed permanently.
