Additional racist graffiti found at Gloucester schools

After racist graffiti was reported in a Peasley Middle School restroom on Jan. 19, two more similar messages were found within Gloucester County Public Schools earlier this week.

Dr. Anthony Vladu, superintendent of schools, announced Tuesday evening to parents, staff and the community that a similar message to the one reported at Peasley was found at Page Middle School in a restroom Monday afternoon. A message of hatred directed towards the African American community was also found in a restroom stall at Gloucester High School earlier this week.

Vladu said the incident at Page was reported immediately and the investigation was planned to be completed by Wednesday. The message at GHS is also under investigation. The restroom will be closed in the meantime.

“Rest assured, we are actively investigating these incidents, and every effort is being made to ensure that those responsible are held accountable in accordance with state guidance and the Student Code of Conduct,” he state...
