Justin Adams, a 2016 Mathews High School graduate, was one of 24 Virginia Military Institute cadets named to the Southern Conference Fall Academic All-Conference team.
To be eligible for the academic all-conference team, student-athletes must carry at least a 3.3 cumulative grade point average at the conclusion of the fall semester and were required to compete in at least 50 percent of their team’s competitions during the season. In addition, the student-athletes must have successfully completed at least three semesters at their institutions, making true freshman and first-year transfers ineligible for inclusion.
Adams, a psychology major and senior at VMI, is a standout on the cross country team. In 2017-18, he was VMI’s number-one runner at the opening meet of the cross country season, and ran in the Keydets’ top three in all four of his total events during the year.
