Accelerated Reader awards

Mathews High School students earned Accelerated Reader awards consisting of prizes, gift cards, and a Chick-fil-A lunch celebration in the library for earning the highest points in the MHS Accelerated Reader Incentive Reading Program. The program was created by Media Specialist LaDonna Crain to encourage students to read more at the high school level, with the Mathews Community Foundation funding the prizes and luncheon. Rebecca Wyatt earned first place with 428 points, Jean Payne earned second place with 172 points, Bella Hockenberry earned third place with 143 points, Julian Wyatt earned fourth place with 117 points, and Billy Henry earned fifth place with 70 points.
