Abingdon club receives honors at Ruritan National Convention

The Abingdon Ruritan Club received several honors and recognitions at the Ruritan National Convention, which was held on Jan. 18-21 in Charleston, South Carolina.

The club received first-place and third-place awards in the National Communications Award category. The first-place award was for Excellence in Club Website Design. The third-place award was for Excellence in Club Newsletters. Sandra Hogge maintains the club’s website and Mary Lou Shepherd is the editor of the club’s newsletter.

Elliott Hogge was recognized as a Ruritan Forever and a Tom Downing Fellow. Pete Shepherd was recognized as a Ruritan Forever. 

The club was well represented at the convention with 11 members and one spouse in attendance. Attending were Tony and Elena Dziadul, Sandra and Elliott Hogge, Janet and Dave Kyle, Sandra and Jimmy Leif-fer, Lynn and Dave Onesty and Mary Lou and Pete Shepherd. ...
