A world of kitchen experience: Chef brings his talents to Sanders residents

“I feel I have completed the circle,” head chef at Sanders Retirement Village Martin Clebowitz said. “As a high school student in my home town of East Hampton, Connecticut, I worked in an Italian restaurant beginning as a dishwasher. My last job as chef before joining Sanders was in an Italian restaurant in Williamsburg.”

Martin has had a very interesting and rewarding life in the making of the circle. He was in high school student when he joined the Army National Guard and upon graduation continued with the Army until he had completed his course. “I then decided to join the Navy.” For the next ten years Martin served his country traveling over the world working on underwater mines which led him to the Naval Weapons Station in Yorktown. It was here Martin met Darlene, his wife of 20 years.

Now a civilian Martin began working in the electric security field but soon realized this was not for him. It was prior to middle age that Martin made the decision to attend culinary school. “...
