A valued community partner

Chesapeake Bank was honored by the Mathews County School Board at its May 17 meeting, after the bank was named to the Virginia School Boards Association 2022 Business Honor Roll. In recognizing Chesapeake Bank, school board chairman Linda Hodges, standing at right, said that she remembered when the bank first came to Mathews in 1980 that it said it would work to be a part of the Mathews community and it has certainly lived up to that promise. Jill Ortiz, Chesapeake Bank’s Regional Manager for the Middle Peninsula, and Branch Manager Rachel Dye, from left, were on hand to receive the honor. Also pictured (seated) is superintendent of schools Nancy Welch. At present, the bank is preparing to move from its current location near Hyco Corner a little ways down the street into the building that formerly housed the Bank of America.
