A splendid banquet: Central Village Homemakers share their recipes again

Central Village Homemakers, an organization formed in the mid-1970s, has always been a big supporter of causes in Mathews County. The members work endlessly to help sustain the coffers of Mathews fire and rescue squads, Meals on Wheels, Hands Across Mathews, Senior Center and Triad Senior Day, After Prom Party, Gloucester Mathews Care Clinic, The Christmas Store and, with a sincere interest in education—the Mathews 4-H Scholarship.

The group’s annual Christmas Sing-Along is a popular event in December.

These 38 members are always giving. Here’s another gift: their recipes. You can enjoy them for years.

Looking up the definition of homemaker: American Heritage Dictionary defines it as “a person who manages a household.” Very short. Googling homemaker on the internet found: “A person who spends time looking after a home and doing the house work rather than being employed outside the home.”
