A rescue in Milford Haven

We are glad to congratulate the “Faint-Hearted Kid” of Fitchetts on his bravery in rescuing Thomas Washington, whose boat turned over in the Haven during a heavy gale Saturday afternoon. The Kid had much difficulty in reaching the over-turned canoe and came near being swamped after taking the half-drowned man aboard, but being such a skillful boatman and calm thinker, he came safely ashore, dragging with him the sunken canoe. We will no longer call Mr. W. Vernon James, the “Faint-Hearted Kid,” for he has distinguished himself very nobly indeed.

We wish to give three young ladies of Diggs a little advice. Please remember, girls, there are deep ditches on each side of the Haven Road.
