News from Diggs: The pie and ice cream social at the Haven Hall Tuesday night was much enjoyed by the young folks. Mr. Wash Morgan is spending a few days at home this week. Mr. Bud Morgan and wife left Monday for their home in Norfolk. Mrs. Mollie Knight and daughter Miss Florence returned to their home in Baltimore Tuesday.

A truck rolled off the Yorktown-Gloucester Point ferry Thursday night just as the boat had gotten about twenty feet from its Gloucester landing. The truck was loaded with fish valued at $200 and was owned by a Mr. Mitchell, of New Point, Mathews County.

The driver of the vehicle is said to have left it and gone up into the saloon where he was when the car and its load rolled into the water. It was thought the truck had been left without the emergency brake being set, and that when the ferry’s engines were reversed to ease...
