‘A Community Christmas’

“A Community Christmas” was the theme of Saturday’s Mathews Christmas Parade, which featured a total of 52 units. At top left, Jasmine Kidd, one of the House Managers at the Brambles, at left, Angel Forrest, a member of the Brambles’ Management Team, at right and Lillian Gresham, daughter of Residential Director Veronica Gresham, center, were among those on The Brambles’ float. The Brambles, a residential and day program in Mathews, won Best Commercial Entry. Of course, what parade would be complete without a visit from Santa Claus, who rode atop a Mathews fire truck. Above, Lorraine Forrest of the Mathews Branch NAACP, at right, and Jasmine Douglas, granddaughter of branch president Edith Turner handed out candies to the children along the parade route. The Mathews NAACP won Best Walking Unit at the parade. In the photo at left, the pre-K program at Mathews Elementary was well represented.
