A busy weekend ahead

Sixty-one entries will take part in Saturday’s 2019 Christmas and Holiday Parade along Gloucester’s Main Street.

“We cap it (the number of entries) at 60 and the extra is for the fire trucks carrying our special guest—Santa—at the end,” said Katey Legg, director of Gloucester’s Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism.

The parade begins promptly at 3 p.m.—starting at Main Street Center, continuing past the colonial courthouse, and ending at Botetourt Elementary School. “Parking is extremely limited at Main Street Center and along Main Street, so we encourage people to park behind County office buildings, Courthouse, Newington Church, and carpool,” Legg said.

Public parking is not permitted at Botetourt Elementary, as that is where the parade disassembles. Parking will also not be permitted around the northbound side of the court circle so the parade can safely move around the circle.
