A big black buzzard comes, soars over the county

There is a new variety of the buzzard family that has been doing business around here for the past year or more. Can some birdologist or buzzardologist give us some information in to where he came from? He is much larger, somewhat blacker, and with a much shorter tail than the common variety and seems disposed to drive others off.

Mr. Salter of New Point, who has recently purchased the home of Benjamin F. Diggs, was to have moved in this week, but owing to feeble health, has postponed his “moving day.” Mr. Diggs has moved to Surry County to make that place his home.

Notwithstanding the mildness of the winter, nearly everyone is suffering with colds and coughing which is coming to be an epidemic.
