The Richard Henry Lee and Thomas Nelson Jr. chapters of the Virginia Society Sons of the American Revolution held a grave marking ceremony on Sunday for two financial supporters of the Revolutionary War, Samuel Williams and John Richards. The ceremony was held at the Williams Family Cemetery in Mathews. The grave markers were unveiled by Samuel Williams’s descendant, Sonny Richardson (above) and Gerald Runyan of the Thomas Nelson SAR chapter. Wreaths were laid around the grave markers. To conclude the ceremony, members of VASSAR in period attire fired muskets as “Taps” was played by R. Birt Cory of Bugles Across America....
