By a 6-1 margin, the Gloucester County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday approved a conditional use permit to allow a permanent mobile food vendor court along Main Street for the purpose of hosting Small Town Burger. The action followed a public hearing in the colonial courthouse. Supervisor Shannon Hanson cast the sole dissenting vote. Applicant Mac Houtz, along with property owner Main Street Properties, LC, and developer Small Town Burger, requested the CUP to develop 0.15 of an acre of vacant property at the southeast corner of Clements Avenue and Main Street into a mobile food vendor court solely to host a Small Town Burger food truck. Small Town Burger operates similar outdoor food courts in Kilmarnock and Urbanna. The property is zoned village mixed use (B-2) and is surrounded by residential property, The Coke Building (offices), Kelsick Specialty Market, the future site of Gloucester Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad Station 1, and another vacant lot.
