Dictionary Project

For the 22nd year, Mathews Memorial Library has participated in the international Dictionary Project, distributing personal dictionaries to all third graders at Mathews Elementary School. The library’s head of youth services, Carol McCormack, standing at left above, has coordinated the program from the beginning, assisted this year by volunteer Jane Senyk, at right. In each classroom last Thursday, McCormack guided children through the basics of a dictionary search and pointed out the wealth of additional information in the back of the dictionary.
