Letter: Replace Wittman

Editor, Gazette-Journal: Dear Friends and Neighbors, Congressman Wittman has been sending out newsletters nearly daily to remind us what he says he has voted for and done on our behalf. Please consider the following: —Health care: Congressman Wittman voted for the One Big Beautiful Bill, which includes SNAP reductions and reductions in Medicaid financing and eligibility, which by some analyses will affect access, put pressure on rural hospitals and risks closures. These changes impact lower income residents in the 1st District. —One Big Beautiful Bill: Touted as a tax savings measure, American Tax Policy Center’s 2026 analysis shows that in percentage change, higher income households benefit more by between 3.4-4.4 percent vs 2.3 percent benefit for the middle 20 percent of households and only 0.8 percent benefit for low-income households; when cuts to Medicaid and food assistance are included, CBO projected that lowest-income households lose resources overall. —Infrastructure: Virgini...
