Editor, Gazette-Journal: Claim: Rob Wittman is kicking people off Medicaid. Reality: Rob works to protect Medicaid for children, the disabled and elderly. He was one of 17 Republicans, and the only Virginia Republican, to extend the “Affordable Care Act” (H.R. 1834 “Obamacare”) tax credits through 2028 so some Virginians wouldn’t have a sharp increase in health care premiums. Rob helped secure nearly $190 million for Virginia rural healthcare. He supported telehealth care for us, prescription drug transparency, and stronger rural facilities. Supporting rules that force able-bodied and able-minded fully grown adults (without dependents) to look for work or secure a job is a good thing. That common-sense management saves funds for the vulnerable who really need help and preserves funds for our kids and grandkids. If Democrats want to call that “kicking people off,” let them.
