Letter: Types of government

The media has an important role in shaping the views of its audience and how people perceive different types of government. I don’t think the media is objective in defining differences. There are basically three types of governing. Capitalism is a system in which trade and industry are controlled by private ownership. Socialism is dedicated to sharing equally among all citizens in economic resources allocated by democratically elected officials. This type of government requires high taxes. And communism has to do with state control of everything. The biggest issue in my opinion is whether a type of government is run by dictators or the democratic process. And do the citizens have fundamental rights? In a democratic society, citizens vote according to their values. Does a voter value money and possessions? Does a voter value love thy neighbor with no exceptions—except for the welfare queen? Does a voter value a lot of social control? I believe voters should try to be objective and vote ...
