Two new exhibits celebrating Archives Month and Family History Month will be unveiled by the Mathews Archives at Mathews Memorial Library tonight, Thursday, Oct. 1. Both exhibits will be open to the public during regular library hours through Oct. 31. The Archives Month exhibit, “Hauntings in Mathews,” explores the folklore and legends surrounding ghosts and other mysterious happenings at four historic Mathews County locations: Auburn Plantation, Hudgins House, Old House Woods, and Roxbury (Stoakes Plantation). The Family History Month exhibit, “Find Your Roots at the Library,” highlights the many resources available to those researching their family history and exploring Mathews County’s past. Featured resources include the Chesapeake Room, the Mathews Archives, Digital Archives, eResources, and the Transcribe Mathews County Project.
