Mathews High School seniors Lily Bell and Franklin Cardenas Flores were crowned homecoming queen and king in a ceremony held on Saturday in the school’s gymnasium. Plans for a homecoming parade on Friday and field performance by the MHS Marching Band fell by the wayside as inclement weather caused the cancellation of Friday’s events. School staff scrambled to plan the homecoming program in the gym before Saturday evening’s homecoming dance.
