First District Representative Shannon L. Taylor
Shannon Leigh Taylor is the Democratic candidate for the 1st Congressional District seat, seeking to unseat Republican incumbent Rep. Rob Wittman. Taylor, 58, is an attorney and prosecutor who has served as the Commonwealth’s Attorney for Henrico County since 2012. According to her website, over the past 14 years, she has “pioneered programs to support victims of human trafficking, created a task force to tackle the opioid epidemic, and worked alongside law enforcement to get illegal guns off the streets.” In 2025, she ran unsuccessfully in the June 2025 Democratic Party primary for Virginia Attorney General (Jay Jones won that primary and subsequently was elected to the office in the 2025 General Election).
