Partnering banks launch payment utility

Rebolt Financial Technology has announced a community bank-owned payment utility, purposed for small business banking. Chesapeake Bank and Reading Cooperative Bank are the first financial institutions to go live, with additional banks being implemented, a Chesapeake release said. The launch addresses a gap that community bankers have seen widen, the release said. In need of easy, instant payment options, small businesses are turning to software providers and payment apps outside the bank. Rebolt implements those capabilities directly within the bank’s online banking environment. The API-first platform integrates with existing core systems, digital banking environments and payment hubs, the release said. Rather than displace billpay, ACH, or wire workflows, and without requiring renegotiation of current vendor relationships, it extends what is already in place, while adding payments to PayPal and Venmo accounts, integration with stablecoin networks and instant payments....
