The issue of Flock security cameras and their use in the county was addressed at the Sept. 1 meeting of the Gloucester County Board of Supervisors. During that meeting, Sheriff Darrell Warren presented information on the cameras. Flock cameras take still photos of vehicles that pass by a pole or other fixed, public location, capturing vehicle information like color, make and model, he said. The systems do not take continuous video, nor do they identify any person in the vehicle. He explained that the use of Automatic License Plate Recognition devices in Gloucester is governed by both Virginia State Code and the department’s own policy.
