Two years ago my daughter visited the 9-11 memorial. My sister’s husband had a cousin who worked for Cantor Fitzgerald in the North Tower and perished. I told my daughter to look for her name on the North Pool memorial and to find her red wallet which was later found on the roof of a nearby building and is now displayed in the museum. It was a heartbreaking experience with the names and faces of all those who died, pieces of the fire trucks, pictures of the rescue dogs and parts of the wreckage, and my daughter broke down and cried. A docent hugged her and when she asked him how he could work there every day, he said it was worth it to see the comfort the memorial gave to friends and relatives and the understanding of the events that it gave to visitors.
