Letter: Toward a police state

Editor, Gazette-Journal: I will not be voting for Sheriff Edwards the next time she is up for reelection. This Flock “Safety” Camera program is one more step down the road to a police state like communist China—46,799 vehicles recorded in 30 days! Big Brother is watching, so you had better behave. Sheriff Edwards likes to spend money; one can only wonder what this is costing the taxpayers. Unless the Gazette-Journal is not reporting all the crime Sheriff Edwards is alluding to, the Public Record in the newspaper does not indicate a crime wave. The nine crimes/incidents that were reported for the week of Aug. 20-27 were mostly around excessive alcohol use. If we have a lot of drug use and/or drug dealing, the newspaper is not talking about it. I do not trust the computer sites; the information there is often not accurate.
