Children’s book tells tale of pelicans at Wolf Trap

“The Haunted Lighthouse,” a children’s book about two pelicans who take refuge in the Wolf Trap Lighthouse during a storm, will be released on Oct. 6 by Brandylane Publishers/Belle Isle Books of Richmond. Early release copies will also be available for purchase during Mathews Market Days. Author Scott Burnette (pen name W. Scott) of Sandston said the book is the first in a planned series for ages 4-8 titled “The Adventures of Pen and Penny.” All of the stories take place in the Chesapeake Bay and involve the adventures of the two pelican friends. Burnette said he has been boating in the Deltaville area of the Chesapeake Bay for 30 years and volunteers with U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary 66 in Mathews. The 32-page book is illustrated by Neethi Joseph and Indu Shaji of the FolksnFables studio. It may be pre-ordered through various online booksellers for prices of $15.95 for paperback and $26.95 for hardcover....
