A fishing trip to remember

Jerry Earls of Gloucester, had a fishing trip to remember on Wednesday, Aug. 12. The latest issue of vasaltwaterjournal.com lists Earls as earning three citations that day in the Virginia Saltwater Fishing Tournament. On a trip to the Rappahannock River, Earls caught and released a 46-inch black drum and a 46-inch red drum. He also caught, and kept, an 11-pound, 13-ounce sheepshead. Earl was bait fishing with crab for all three catches. Two additional Gloucester residents have earned catch-and-release citations for red drum, according to the Aug. 19 fishing journal. Mark Mellon caught and released a 51-inch red drum on July 26 while trolling off Cape Charles. Robert G. Rowe, bait fishing with cut fish, caught and released a 48-inch red drum, also on July 26 off Cape Charles....
