Voting in the 2026 Mathews Market Days Poster Contest is well underway, but community members still have until Friday to visit Mathews Memorial Library and cast a vote for the work of art they feel best captures this year’s theme, “Red, White and Blue Crabs.” The theme of the contest recognizes both the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence and the Mathews County way of life on the Chesapeake Bay. Five entries have been on display at the library since Aug. 1 and will remain on display until Market Days weekend is over, said a press release. The winning poster will be unveiled at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 5, at the Bay School Community Arts Center, 279 Main Street, Mathews.
