Tourism roundtables begin next week

Roundtables focusing on tourism, conducted by the Mathews County Economic Development Authority, will begin next week. All sessions will begin at 5:30 p.m. at the Chesapeake Bank Conference Room. The EDA said it hopes to hear from people involved in targeted segments of the community, and from the public at large. According to an advertisement, participants will be invited to discuss the county’s tourism assets, opportunities, and priorities, “which will then be compiled into a report for consideration by the Board of Supervisors.” Sessions and topics are set next week for Tuesday, Aug. 18, lodging and short-term rentals; Wednesday, Aug. 19, restaurants, food service retail and Main Street merchants; Friday, Aug. 21, McVic, May Faire, Market Days, service and civic organizations.
