The Tom Yee Woo and Caroline Dierdorff Woo descendants recently enjoyed three days of celebrating their heritage and family memories. They travelled from California, Texas, Illinois, Ohio, New York and within Virginia. But this was not their first family reunion; the family has been holding reunions since the 1950s. Each reunion includes a meal at a traditional Chinese restaurant and a day of fun and lunch at Sandbridge Beach in Virginia Beach. This year, there was an added event when they all gathered at the home of Jeanie Woo of Bena to share family memorabilia and receive their own copy of “Aunt Rhea’s Old Family Album” which was compiled by their Aunt Rhea nearly 100 years ago. The album features vintage family photos, genealogy, history, and family stories. A letter with a personal account by their cousin of the bombing of Pearl Harbor in December 1941 is included.
