Enrollment is underway for Gloucester and Mathews preschool students ages 3-5 for the Greater Middle Peninsula Head Start preschool program, according to Jesse Sharpe, communications manager for the Williamsburg-James City County Community Action Agency. The program is free with income eligibility requirements. Those applying for the program need to provide the following documentation: proof of income/public assistance; proof of child’s identity, proof of residency, and the child’s medical physical, record of immunizations and dental. Through the Head Start program, children receive early childhood education, activities that promote literacy and school readiness, development of social and life skills, healthy meals and nutritious snacks each day, and supportive learning environments that encourage growth and success.
