The Mathews County Planning Commission will have two public hearings during its meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the historic courthouse on Court Street. James S. Callis Jr. has requested that a 2.006-acre parcel at 391 Mariners Point Road be rezoned from Rural (RU) to Residential (R-1) so he can subdivide the property and create two one-acre parcels for homesites for extended family members. Arcola Towers and Mobility Corporation, doing business as AT&T, and property owner Dale Blaylock have requested a conditional use permit to construct a 197-foot monopole-style wireless communications tower on an 11.6-acre parcel of woodland located on Beaverdam Road near its intersection with Ridgefield Road, tax map parcel 30-A-121. The applications and supporting documents can be seen in the planning and zoning office at 50 Brickbat Road and will soon be available online at mathewscountyva.gov/355/Meeting-Portal....
