The College of William & Mary’s Batten School and Virginia Institute of Marine Science, Gloucester Point, has announced two upcoming programs. The next After Hours lecture, “Talkin’ Terrapins,” will be given on Aug. 20 from 6:30-8 p.m. in Davis Hall. Lecture attendees will learn about some of the challenges facing the conservation of diamondback terrapin in Virginia coastal waters. Online registration is required for both in-person and webinar attendees. Webinar links will be sent in all registration confirmation emails. Discovery Lab The Discovery Lab, “Exploring the Deep!” will be held on Sept. 15 from 6-8 p.m. Learn about creatures that glow in the dark, survive crushing pressures and thrive in one of Earth’s least-explored environments through hands-on, interactive activities and demonstrations.
