RWRH receives stroke guidelines award

Riverside Walter Reed Hospital, Gloucester, is among four Riverside Health acute care hospitals to receive the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s Get With The Guidelines—Stroke Quality Achievement Award. In addition, the hospitals earned recognition for their commitment to providing evidence-based, high-quality stroke care for patients with Type 2 diabetes and those living in rural communities. Hospitals earn these recognitions by consistently meeting quality benchmarks, including timely evaluation and treatment, medication management, patient education and post-discharge care planning. The goal is to reduce mortality and improve recovery for patients. RWRH is designated as a primary stroke center, meaning that it excels in managing strokes that do not require neurovascular procedures.
