The Gloucester High School Dukes will open the 2026 football season on Friday, Aug. 28 at New Kent High School, according to the master schedule released this week by the Virginia High School League. GHS, a member of the Bay Rivers District in Region 4A, will hold its home opener the following Friday, Sept. 4, against Jamestown. The rest of the schedule calls for Gloucester to face Grafton (Sept. 11), Poquoson (Oct. 9), Tabb (Oct. 23) and Smithfield (Oct. 30) at home, with road games at York (Sept. 18), Bruton (Oct. 2), Lafayette (Oct. 16) and Warhill (Nov. 6). The Dukes have their bye week on Week 5 (Sept. 21-26) of the 2026 schedule. Mathews High School, which forfeited its season after two games in 2025, is not fielding a football team this season....
