Editor, Gazette-Journal: As we head into the heart of summer, the Middle Peninsula real estate market is showing real energy. June closed with 150 sales across the Chesapeake Bay & Rivers region—up 22 percent from a year ago, according to the Chesapeake Bay & Rivers Association of Realtors’ latest market report, compiled by Virginia Realtors—and pending sales rose for the third straight month, a good sign for the weeks ahead. Buyers also have more to choose from: active listings climbed 12.3 percent to 455 homes, putting us at about 4.4 months of supply. That’s still a balanced market, neither runaway sellers’ territory nor a buyers’ free-for-all. Locally, Gloucester County logged 58 sales, up 13.7 percent, with the median price reaching $400,000—an 8.1 percent gain. Middlesex County saw 29 sales and a median of $505,000, up a striking 23.2 percent. Mathews County’s median came in at $435,000, down 16.8 percent.
