Early voting ends Saturday for the dual-party primary that will be held on Tuesday, with Democratic Party voters in Gloucester and Mathews counties and the rest of Virginia’s 1st Congressional District choosing among seven candidates seeking to unseat current Rep. Rob Wittman (R-Montross), while Republicans statewide are being asked to select from among three hopefuls to defeat U.S. Sen. Mark Warner (D-Virginia) in the November general election. Early in-person voting at the Gloucester and Mathews registrar offices, which began on June 18, continues today and Friday, with a final special early voting day to be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the two counties.
