Editor, Gazette-Journal: Thank you, thank you to the Court House Players and Community Orchestra for an extraordinary performance of Crickets on a Hill. This show written by Judy Ward, made real the Revolutionary War heroes, who just happened to be our neighbors (then and now). The storyline showed what difficult decisions folks faced in deciding whether to fight for their freedoms or submit to an authoritarian king. The personal nature of these decisions was brought home, as the colonists opted for government of, by, and for the people. We hope that our current representatives, senators, and Supreme Court justices would heed these pleas for our inalienable rights, life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness for all, especially in these times where our democracy is currently being threatened.
