Deltas roll past Trash Pandas; will play twice this weekend

Strong pitching, timely offense and error-free defense were the keys to a 9-0 Deltaville Deltas victory over the Richmond Trash Pandas on Sunday afternoon in Richmond. Nathan Vaughan got the Deltas on the board in the third inning with an RBI single which scored Travis Crump, giving Deltaville a 1-0 lead. The tightly contested matchup continued into the sixth, when Jett Bristow lined a double into the gap to score Jacob Houston and Colton Smith. Benny Walker drove in Bristow two batters later, and the Deltas held a 4-0 lead. Two more runs driven in by Walker in the eighth inning and a three-run ninth allowed the Deltas to pull away late in the game. Matt Kleinfelter turned in another sensational performance on the mound for the Deltas. The right-hander tossed seven shutout innings, scattering just five hits and striking out four.
