The power of singing

When was the last time you were with a group of people, singing together? Can you remember the last time you sang with other people, or heard the sound of hundreds or thousands of human voices singing together? We used to sing the National Anthem together before sporting events, or sing songs to God in church services, or even around a campfire. Today, unfortunately, even when people attend church services, we have become conditioned to let someone else sing the songs for us. There used to be a chemistry that occurred as people sang together, joining their voices to sing praises and gratitude to God, or just to express love of country, or experience joy and nostalgia. Why don’t we do that anymore? Is it because there is no song in our heart? Perhaps. But I think it is more that we live in a world where people have been conditioned to be observers, and to be entertained by watching others perform, rather than encouraged to be a creative and contributing participant in the praising of Go...
