The 12U All Stars softball team of Gloucester Youth Baseball & Softball has qualified for a spot in the Babe Ruth 12U Softball World Series national tournament in Florence, Alabama, after placing second in the state tournament late last month. Though they suffered a tough loss to Shenandoah early in the state tournament, the girls quickly bounced back. They claimed wins over New Kent, Charles City, Peachtree and Stafford through injuries and one emergency surgery. The 13 players are now fundraising to travel to compete in the national tournament, which will be held July 24-Aug. 2 in Florence. All donations will go to expenses related to travel, lodging, transportation, meals, equipment, uniforms, tournament fees and more. Their goal is $6,000. Donations can be made through CashApp at $GYBSAllStars, check made payable to GYBS or GoFundMe at gofund.me/d50f344e6....
