Deltas’ bats power past Norfolk

Before the fireworks lit up the night sky over Deltaville Ballpark on Saturday night, the Deltaville Deltas’ bats lit up the outfield grass. Five Deltas had multi-hit games as Deltaville trampled the visiting Norfolk Benchwarmers by the score of 15-2. Both starting pitchers held their opposing offenses at bay for the first couple of innings. But in the third inning, Grayson Shield blasted a two-run homer over the trees in right field to give the Deltas the lead. In the following inning, things unraveled for the Norfolk bullpen, which issued five walks in the frame. Deltaville took advantage with singles from Jett Bristow, Tyler Boulay, and Colton Smith, plating six runs in the frame and ended the inning with an 8-0 lead. Deltaville plated another run in the fifth, and in the sixth used five hits—including a pair of doubles—to stretch the lead to double digits.
