An estimated 60 or 70 people turned out in the extreme heat Saturday morning to celebrate the Fourth of July with a 1.776-mile walk/run from the Mathews Court Green to the Thomas Hunter Middle School nature trail and back. Historically-costumed supporters met the participants along the way.
